Maple Grove Charter School is thankful to the Athens and Hamburg community for all the support to our little red schoolhouse! Our 9th annual fundraiser at the Hamburg Town Hall was amazingly successful do to the support of our families and community members! We could not have fed over 500 people without our fantastic volunteers and donors, we are grateful!

A little blast from the past on this throwback Thursday!
Maple Grove’s first tapping was in 1970 by Mrs. Arlene Teske’s first grade class. The first graders collected 80 gallons of sap to get 5 gallons of Maple Syrup.
At Maple Grove Charter School we currently have over 160 trees tapped and have collected over 800 gallons of sap.
Kindergarten students from Maple Grove Charter School recently began a new exploratory unit: "Trees are Alive"! Our first topic covered the difference between living and nonliving things. This called for a scavenger hunt where students were encouraged to think about the criteria for all living things: needing food, water, air, and growing/moving by itself.
Come and enjoy some delicious regular and potato pancakes at our 9th annual Maple Grove Charter School Breakfast on Sunday, April 10, from 9:00-1:00 at the Hamburg Town Hall. Tickets sold at MGCS, Eddie's Bar, Athens IGA, Ed. & Sharon's, or at the door. Raffles will also be available! Hope to see you there!
The Maple Grove kindergarten class earned another CRISP trait reward on St. Patrick's Day. In addition to holiday themed activities, they celebrated their accomplishment by enjoying rainbow jello! I was told the snack was a "10 out of 5" and "it was the best day ever." Nothing beats their level of excitement! 💚
Second grade learners at Maple Grove created their own hand made paper. We used recycled scrap paper and then added our own natural dyes, glitter and even seeds. Once the paper dried, we were able to write on it and even plant it in dirt to grow a flower garden.
Come and and enjoy some delicious pancakes! Dine in or Carry-Out.
Kindergarten students at Maple Grove patiently waited a whole week to collect their sap! They quickly realized how tiring this process can be (even with the help of their 4/5th grade buddies!) but enjoyed it all the same. Our class collection measured exactly 2.5 gallons and we are prepared for more!

Second graders at Maple Grove responded to their pen pals at Athens Elementary this week! It is one of the fun ways we stay connected. Reading the letters from their new friends brings so many smiles! ✏️📝🦊🧡
Kindergarten students had an eventful afternoon tapping trees! This was a first time for many, but certainly not their last. We can't wait to begin collecting and learning more about the maple syrup process first-hand!
The tradition continues!🍁 It was a fantastic day to have first grade tap trees for the upcoming season😊 Nothing quite compares to watching the excitement, curiosity, learning, and memories that come from the experiences at Maple Grove Charter School!
-I’m reminded each and every day of how lucky we are out the “little red schoolhouse” 📚😊 thank you to the volunteers that shared in the excitement of today!
Due to inclement weather, the Maple Grove Governance Board meeting scheduled for Monday, March 14, 2022 has been cancelled.
4th/5th grade learners at Maple Grove painted this mural. Can you see the hidden animal?
We are thrilled that we are able to carry on this wonderful experience of tapping trees at Maple Grove Charter School! This once only first grade tradition, started by Arlene Teske, has now expanded to a whole school learning experience with over 160 trees tapped. It was an exciting 2 days of tapping with amazing volunteers coming to help! Memories were made with grandparents, who once attended Maple Grove themselves, coming to help their grandchildren tap their trees💕 Let the sap flow!
It was a successful Open House/Family Night! We were excited to welcome current, past, and new families and community members to Maple Grove Charter School!
Last week we celebrated Read Across America. Learners were “Caught Loving Reading”, played SEUSS Bingo, participated in exciting dress up days, watched the student council put on The Butter Battle Book, and collected money for pie in the face! It was a great week LOVING READING 📖
What a fantastic first day tapping at Maple Grove Charter School! Thank you to all of the wonderful volunteers, we couldn’t have done it without you! More to come tomorrow!
Kindergarten students at Maple Grove met with their 4/5th grade buddies to celebrate the last day of Read Across America week. I can't think of a better way to spend a Friday morning than with Dr. Seuss and pajamas!
