My last post for the Athens School District is photos of my classroom. After 33 years of teaching and 26 years here at Athens, I'm retiring at the end of the school year.  If these murals, walls, and classroom furniture could talk they would have so much to say about what has gone in this room.  I not only taught United States History, World History, Economics, American Government, Sociology, Psychology, The Vietnam War, World War 2, and Film History but my students taught me as well.  The lessons could be a simulation where we recreated a Roaring 20s Speakeasy,  a 1950s sock hop, sampling food made in the Great Depression as well as in Colonial America or the American Civil War as well as a decades party, but it could be a trip on the Oregon Trail, witnessing the horrors and triumphs of World War II through the various recourses that I used as well as interactive games, creative art projects, STEM projects, watching the Wizard of Oz and how it connects to Populism, discussions as well as worksheets and essays-but we learned together as teams of how each student learns in their unique way but that history connects us all.  It was a wonderful 26 years but it is time to move on to a new chapter in my life as I make my own choices that will be history one day to my family and friends.  Farewell until we meet or see each other again!  Ms. Stange

Wonderful murals created by students to add to my class discussions.
FDR as imagined during the New Deal.
Murals, posters and clocks-a hint of who I am as a teacher.
